The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) pioneers innovative breakthrough to encourage students to excel, announces full tuition fee waiver for top-ranked candidates among females, males, NC-OBC, SC, ST and PwD categories.

Historically known to be the front runner in bringing about a nation-wide change in thinking across institutes of national importance to encourage gender diversity and inclusive growth has left no stones unturned. IIMK was the first ever IIM to roll back tuition fee by INR 30,000 in 2012. This is their second radical step in the direction of making higher education accessible to all deserving students based on merit, combining equity and excellence.

The Institute will grant a full tuition fee waiver to 12 top-ranked candidates among females, males, NC-OBC, SC, ST and PwD categories who will be joining its flagship Postgraduate Programme (PGP) this June. Top 10 states representing these students’ profile are Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Telangana and Gujarat.

Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIMK in his second term at the Institute, known for new initiatives to bring diversity and inclusivity said, “Through this, IIM Kozhikode celebrates its talent and its enduring commitment to diversity.”

IIMK has over 10 per cent of its students coming from families with an annual income of INR one lakh or less, who are protected from steep fee increase as most of them avail loans for their studies. These include full fee waiver to one per cent of students having proven record of excellence in academics, sports, extra-curricular or social activities through awards or recognitions at national or international level and full fee waiver for children of martyrs belonging to the military, paramilitary or police force. A half fee waiver is granted to children of defence or allied services who were injured during the action and lost their earning capacity.

This unprecedented pro-active move to support higher education in the country will charter a path for others to emulate.
