Despite tending to her paralysed dad, this Kozhikode teen notched up an A+ in SSLC

Arya believed that studying next to her bed-ridden father would help his speedy recovery and she also ensured to read her lessons out loud with him by her side

Arya Raj is a proud girl. After scoring a spectacular win in the SSLC examination while attending to her bedridden father, the girl has now been gifted a laptop by District Collector S Sambasiva Rao.

Two days ago when the Collector visited Arya's house, he said a laptop would be helpful in her further studies and that he would arrange one for her soon. The teenager didn't realise the gift would reach her so soon.

The laptop was sponsored by P Shan of Mathrusneham Charitable Trust. The Trust also presented Arya swith a study table and chair.

Arya Raj, a student of Providence Higher Secondary School battled the odds and studied hard for the SSLC examination despite her father being paralysed after an accident. The young girl used to read aloud her lessons at the bedside of her father while preparing for the examination.

Arya said she believed her constant presence and studying beside her father would help in his recovery. Though her father did not recover, Arya scored A Plus in all subjects in the SSLC examination.

Knowing about Arya's condition, a number of voluntary organisaitons had come forward to help her. The District Collector assured all help to her in future before seeing her off from his chamber at the Collectorare.
