Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said the efficiency of our youths should be upgraded to suit the changing times, in line to face the challenges of the times.

The Chief Minister further said this while inaugurating the Youth Leadership Academy which would provide leadership and skills training to the youth of Kerala to enhance their scientific and constitutional knowledge. The first session was handled by Kamal Haasan.

In his address, the CM stated, ''The work of the Youth Leadership Academy would give a new sense of direction to the youth. Crisis shapes leaders and gives the ability to overcome crises and move forward. Failure to do so will cause you to become paralysed. The task of leadership is to enable them to survive. The aim of the Youth Leadership Academy is to develop leaders who are in line with this principle with efficiency and leadership. Our youth have proved their vitality since the days of the Renaissance movements. The willpower, commitment, readiness and efficiency of the youth were evident in the recent floods, epidemics and the pandemic. This efficiency needs to be updated and professionalized to meet the challenges of changing times'', he further stated.

"The aim is to create a community where knowledge and skills can be put to practical use. When our youth become representatives of the people, they should not be led by the bureaucrats, but they should lead the bureaucrats. They must excel in their field of work, must be knowledgeable on related issues, laws, rules and procedures. All these goals should be achieved through this academy. The Kerala Youth Leadership Academy is a milestone in the transformation of Kerala's youth into leaders in various fields", Mr Vijayan affirmed. "The Academy will provide an opportunity for renowned scholars and thinkers in various fields at the international and national levels to share their experiences with the youth of Kerala on topics in their respective fields. For the vast majority of those who have not had the opportunity to study in high quality international and national higher education institutions, this opportunity is being made available in another way in their home and backyard," the CM added.
