Madurai Kamaraj University sex scandal: Accused Nirmala Devi sent to 15 days custody

Srivilliputhur Mahila Court Judge ordered Nirmala Devi to be kept under 15 days of judicial custody on Monday. Nirmala Devi, the suspended assistant professor from Devanga Arts and Science College in Aruppukottai, who allegedly lured college girls for extending sexual favours to the officials of Madurai Kamaraj University appeared before the Srivilliputhur Mahila Court.

Her aides Murugan and Karuppasamy also appeared. Judge Parlimala ordered the CB-CID to keep her under 15 days of judicial custody, she was then taken to Central Prison, Madurai. Nirmala's lawyer said that she had been receiving threats from AIADMK ministers from Madurai. 

While addressing the media persons at court campus, Nirmala's Lawyer Pasumpon Pandian said that earlier, on November 18, the judge ordered arrest warrant for Nirmala due to non-appearance in the court. On Monday, CBCID sleuths arrested Nirmala Devi and made her appear before the judge, he said. The laywer also said that Nirmala was continuously threatened by an AIADMK minister from Madurai and that that particular minister had told Nirmala that he would kill her entire family if she appeared in court and that he would also attack her with acid.
