Accusing students of stealing the woman guard's phone, special officer of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBVs) at Moinpet in Vikarabad made 30 students kneel down on the ground under the sun for an hour on Monday. In videos doing rounds on WhatsApp, students say that the guard started creating a ruckus and woke them up even before 4 am. She then went on to abuse and accuse them of stealing her phone. She complained to the special officer, who acts as the principal of the residential school. " Around 6-6: 30 am30 KGBV students trashed, kept hungry over alleged phone thef she came and met us and started scolding us. We were not even given breakfast or water and made to kneel down for an hour at around 10:30 am," said a student. Some students were trashed so badly that they were not able to stand.

Despite being a residential girls school, some students alleged that a staff's male family members stayed on the school campus which also houses the hostels. "The Admisntartion is reckless with our security. Our parents have sent us here thinking its safe but there is insufficient security here.," said a student. "We want to leave the school, take transfer certificate and go home," quipped another.
