Coimbatore education department opens registrations for the INSPIRE award

As per norms, only three students (classes VI to VIII) can participate in the exhibition from middle school category, only five students (class VI to X) can participate from high school category

Coimbatore district school education department on Saturday has announced that government and private schools principals can register to participate in the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) award from Monday.

School education department district coordinator G Logambal said, as per the ministry of science and technology order, the government and private schools can register the school name to participate the INSPIRE award exhibition for the 2019-2020 year in the Education Management Information System (EMIS) from Monday.

The principals should upload school name, student name, projects details, etc in the EMIS website. Students should have innovated new projects topic on science and environment, to participate in the exhibition. As per norms, only three students (classes VI to VIII) can participate in the exhibition from middle school category, only five students (class VI to X) can participate from high school category. 35 school students were selected to the state level INSPIRE award from Coimbatore district in last year,-" she said.

According to the source, in the education department, every year the ministry of science and technology has been conducting science exhibition to students of classes 6 to 10 across the nation, the name of INSPIRE awards -Million Minds Augmenting National Aspiration and Knowledge (MANAK). This award aimed to at attracting talented young students to study and pursue a career in research.
