Anyone with a passion to educate can be a teacher at 25-year-old Rahul Varma's Unschool Learning. Here's how

You have the option of scheduling a consultation call with an in-house expert before you choose a course. Machine Learning, web development, android app development are courses one can opt for

Chances are that a graduate fresh out of college will have to unlearn more lessons than they would have to learn new ones. "In the past, people used to study what they need to study to become what you become for life. But in the last three years itself, I've taken up so many different roles. The world has changed," says Rahul Varma. So to initiate this unlearning as soon as possible, he Co-Founded Unschool Learning. On this portal, the right people can opt to teach and anyone can learn. "We don't mean to disrespect schools, we just want to take one step back and relook at the idea of schooling," says the 25-year-old.

They have touched 300 educational institutions through their campus ambassador programme

After a thorough screening process and asking for demo videos, anyone who has the passion and the skills to back up their knowledge is given the opportunity to get on to their platform and teach. They don't believe that a teacher needs to be from IIT or IIM only. "We don't even have any criteria in terms of age. My aim is to actually see someone like my grandmother to get on to our portal and teach cooking," says Rahul who pursued BTech from SRM Institute of Science and Technology.

Now, when it comes to the learners, "because there are problems on both sides of the spectrum, teaching and learning," he says, they offer one-on-one mentorship and provide guaranteed internship opportunities too. "A teacher is anyone who teaches, but we call them coaches, those who point the students in the right direction," explains the youngster. So under every coach, are a few junior coaches who are responsible for mentorship. They call students up every week, keep track of their performance, analyse their user data and understand their pace. No wonder that their completion to engagement rates are 75%. Currently, they have 2,500 paid users who have opted for courses on their platform which are being taught by a community of 30 to 40 coaches. With such inflow of traffic, they recently revamped their website as well. "I made the first version myself, so this is definitely much better," laughs the Bhimavaram-born youngster.

Rahul Varma says that, "Anything that a person becomes boils down to the education they have"

Talking about courses, Unschool's portal offers content writing, stock markets and finance, ethical hacking, soft skills and many more options. Once you opt for a course, you will have lifetime access to it, something which a lot of other portals don't really offer. Rahul aims to bring on to their platform unconventional courses and arts as well. Photography, foreign languages, cooking, the sky's the limit. They intend to add 100 courses to their platform.

Some of the courses to look out for:
Digital Marketing: Taught by Ishan Singh, Manager, Digital Marketing, Scripbox
Data Science: Taught by  Kumari Surya Remanan, a data scientist
Graphic Design: Taught by Swathi Singh, CMO, Inner Goddess
Java and Python: Taught by Manasa Kota
