The GO for Local Area status released by the Telangana Government specifically lists four categories: -
Candidates who qualify as local candidates of the O.U. Area
Candidates who have lived in Telangana for a total of 10 years, excluding periods of study outside the state, provided they have not resided outside Telangana for employment
Candidates whose parents are employed in Telangana in the State or Central Government, public-sector corporations, local bodies, universities or similar quasi-public institutions
Candidates who are spouses of employees of the State/Central Government, public-sector corporations, local bodies, universities, educational institutions recognised by the government/universities, or similar quasi-government institutions within Telangana
The remaining 15% of seats are for students from other states (non-local), the NRI category, etc. There will also be supernumerary seats for the National Integration Quota (NIQ).
Candidates must clearly check the 85% local status rules before registering for counselling. For the state government's fee reimbursement, only eligible local candidates are considered.
