Beyond just baking: This Hyderabad duo also introduces people to their favourite food joints through exciting videos

Founders of Sugar Daddy Bakes Rohit Sanpally and Zainab Rahimtula did not just want to bake, they wanted to introduce people to their favourite food joints too

So, Rohit Sanpally and Zainab Rahimtula, the Hyderabad is who had started baking under the name Sugar Daddy Bakes, are back. Back from where you ask? From Goa, Mumbai and other places they toured to make their first YouTube video. Too much information too soon? Okay, let's pedal back to the beginning. Two friends, Rohit (28) an engineer from MVSR Engineering College and Zainab (23) a graduate from Culinary Academy of India got together to start a business, a business of baking. "Zainab bakes amazing cakes and we do the icing together," shares Rohit.

What sets them apart, is their attention to hygiene and quality, so much so that their customers are invited to their studio (a penthouse they rented for baking in West Marredpally), anytime. "Love and positive vibes are the most important ingredients for us. We make sure that we don't even scream or fight when we are baking," says the sweet Zainab. So, what was next for the dynamic duo who were already taking over everybody's taste buds with their decadent cakes? Videos, of course!

From elsewhere: They import cocoa from Malaysia and a few other ingredients as well to give their cakes that extra edge

"Videos are a medium through which we can share our excitement about the food we are excited about," says Zainab, assuring us that these videos are not going to be stereotypical making-of-a-recipe or exploring-popular-food-joints videos. They are going to be about offbeat places, dingy shops or restaurants nestled in the crook and nannies of lanes which offer lip-smacking food. While Zainab is seen as the host in the videos, with Rohit occasionally joining in, other times, he is in charge of the camera. "We are budget travellers, so we make you enjoy the best of the best food without burning a hole through your pocket," she says.

The aim is to not just share their favourite food joints, but also a part of themselves through their videos, they wish to create an impression that keeps viewers wanting for more. So how does one go about doing this, we wonder out loud? "By being well read and researching thoroughly before venturing out to these places and in terms of organisation, being one step ahead of everything," she shares.

New twist: Currently, they have renovated their workshop. It has a coffee and milkshake bar for their guests and friends

Though the duo remain tight-lipped even when we attempt to ask them about which of their haunts will feature in the video, but they do share that the first video will explore Goa ("You'll see a different side of Goa", inform us the duo) and it won't stop at that. It will be a series of videos that will come out, one after the other, and the next one will be about Mumbai. How exciting, we think!

The whole point of putting out videos was that the duo refused to just bake, they wanted to do and be so much more than that. And just like their cakes, their videos, we are told, will also be full of love and positive vibes.
