Whether it was on a hair clip to a slipper, a crown was something she always treasured. Poojaa Anandh literally grabbed everything that had a crown on it as a child, and now, years later, she bagged an actual crown when she won the Miss Tamilnadu Style Icon 2019 pageant, recently. The title was something the girl from Coimbatore never expected. "I attended the pageant just for the experience. My parents have been supportive of my hosting shows but they weren't very keen on me getting into modelling. This really helped give them the confidence that I may have a future in it," she said proudly. She has hosted several shows from birthday parties to celebrity live shows and has shared the stage with Chinmayi and DJ Vanessa.

Poojaa, who studies  Msc in Healthcare and MBA in Entrepreneurship at the TIPSGlobal Institute is also a Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) coach. Through NLP, she analyses people and helps them realise their own potential. She strongly believes that a person has the ability to inspire themselves. "I don't have a specific person as my inspiration. A person's qualities might influence us in some way. So I try to absorb those qualities of several people so that I can become a mixture of all those qualities. That is something that motivates me." she smiled.
Talking about life as a model, she says that it all comes down to the way you present yourself. And if you can communicate with people to make them understand you. There are several stereotypes initially. But it is important to be the person you are. "I am choosy about the shoots which I take," explained the 21-year-old model, who is big on body positivity. "Nowadays, anyone can model. Previously there was a stereotype that only fair-skinned people can model. But now there is an increasing demand for dusky skinned models," she opined.

Making it as a model requires a lot of patience. Even if it means being cautious, she explains to us. "Don't be desperate about anything. Once you perform well, people will automatically come to you no matter what. Analyse the company before you go for the shoot and if possible take a trustworthy person along. If that doesn't work be connected with someone you trust over the phone," is her advice to aspiring models.

She concludes by telling that it is important to stay updated on what is happening around you. "The primary key is to talk to a lot of people. Communication does not depend on your language or your slang. It depends on the way you reach people. It is also important to develop one extra-curricular skill, as it will help you relax and stay active," she concludes.
