With online learning gaining popularity and acceptance across the board, it is up to the students to keep track of their progress for them to be successful. We certainly live in times when the hybrid system of learning, in which both classroom teaching and online mode of teaching largely occupy space in the usual academic environment.

There are chances that students will get fatigued and also disenchanted with the content and methodology after a while. This would also lead to serious misgivings with regard to reaping the benefits of the learning outcome, which eventually matters most when it comes to career development.

I can see many students affected by this syndrome and it is more pronounced when their online education comes to an end. Their mindset seems to undergo a certain amount of stress of feeling unaccomplished and not fully satisfied by the course, even when they managed to complete it. The realisation comes a bit too late and there is nothing much that can be done about it at that stage.

The main issue that I could attribute in this scenario as one of the possible causes could be that the students have lost track of their learning goals through the online method of learning. Without face-to-face interaction and instruction, they seem to have taken the virtual platform of learning for granted and not applied their mind to what was really happening with their learning outcome.

The career development aspect is also undergoing a great transformation in terms of the skills that are expected from candidates by potential employers, the availability of candidates with similar qualifications, the lack of specifically skilled candidates who can be part of a professional team have brought in a great shift in concept. These have, in a way, necessitated that fresh graduates have something that is unique to them and that could be a comparative advantage for their selection. In such a situation, the online method of learning comes as a major resource.
