The most clichéd word among the youth of today, particularly the fresh graduates who are stepping out of their respective educational institutions, seeking to carve their own career, is ‘Job insecurity’. In a fast-changing world, where nothing seems permanent, jobs are also not an exception. This aspect would probably be troubling them, especially in the early stages of their career.

Job insecurity affects many youngsters and at times, haunts them so much that they actually lose track of where they belong and where they are supposed to go in terms of their career. As a human resource mentor, I would attribute this to a matter of mind — with proper backing up and an appropriate attitude, they can make the situation much better for themselves, rather than
succumb to it.

This is not something new that the youngsters will have to encounter. It has been a distinctive feature in the professional world for a long time and will continue to be so in the future as well. There is always a constant shift in terms of job and career opportunities based on economic, technological and social issues.
The ones who are better placed to sail over this syndrome are those who have it within themselves to ‘think critically’ and in the process increase their knowledge and skills so as to survive in the emerging world.

The ability to think objectively and analyse information and material to reach logical conclusions will be a great trait that the youth must have up their sleeve when they set foot into the professional world. On the other hand, if you are subjective in your thinking, you will be absorbed by the demands and pulls of the environment and will fade into oblivion.
You should be watchful and always observant to the happenings around you, so that you are quick to respond within any given environment. You should also be conscious to evaluate information and facts that are presented to you in your own way, it could help you develop a sharp and powerful mind.

Solve problems
Plan on solving the problem instead of lamenting over the ones you face

Don’t get tied up
Problem-solvers can survive in any environment as they don’t get tied up to an issue

Think critically
Critical thinking will actually help you improve your productivity
