Career development becomes empowering if it is accompanied by engagement with one’s respective professional setting. Job satisfaction is a mental state of being which has deeper meaning and relevance with respect to the career of an individual, which stems from the foundation of being in sync with their workplace.
In a competitive world, where the metrics of career development is vividly expressed in terms of productivity, job engagement assumes much significance and importance as a critical requirement for the same. The graduates who step into the world of employment must bear in mind that if they are not being productive at their respective organisations, their chances of embracing success diminish to a great extent.
In other words, it can be stated that being engaged in their line of work is directly proportional to their status and quality of success. As a human resource mentor, I have observed that there is a certain amount of restlessness among the youth, especially fresh graduates who take up job responsibilities. In their initial years of work, they start to get disconnected from their work environment and this affects their professional growth and development.
One possible reason that I can attribute to this situation is that the youth compare and contrast their career graphs with that of their friends. This is very dangerous since it is never prudent to look at what others are doing in their workplace without giving your best to your own environment.
They should know the advantages of being an engaged professional in their career domain and take appropriate steps to become one if they are not one already.
It is a fact that highly engaged employees evolve into super-skilled professionals due to the focus that they showcase in their work. The energy to face adversities and challenges in a workplace environment can be augmented with job engagement. Engage without inhibitions in your work to become an achiever.
