SILCHAR (ASSAM), Apr 25 (PTI): The National Institute of Technology (NIT) at Silchar has restrained its hostel boarders, workers and all individuals associated with it from religious activities in open or common areas of the hostel or institute premises.
The order was passed by the Dean, Students' Welfare, on Friday, and came into immediate effect.
It was not immediately known if there was any specific reason for passing the order.
"It is hereby instructed that no hostel boarder(s), mess worker(s), or any other individual residing in or associated with the hostel shall conduct or participate in any form of prayer, religious gathering, or related activity in open spaces or common areas within the hostel or the institute premises," the order said.
It said any violation of the order will be viewed seriously and may invite "appropriate disciplinary action".
"This has the approval of the competent authority, and this order comes into effect immediately," the order added.
