Parents can pay only 70 per cent tuition fee to the private schools: Suresh Kumar S

He said that a separate committee will be formed to look into this issue if private schools force parents to pay extra fees or don't give them time to pay in instAfter many discussions and debates by the Government of Karnataka and various Private School Committees, Suresh Kumar S, Primary and Secondary Education Minister has finally announced the standard fee that the parents have to pay for this academic year. Addressing the media, he said, "Parents have to pay only 70 per cent of the tuition fees this year. We have taken this decision after discussing it with several committees as well as Chief Minister, B S Yeddiyurappa. Schools should not ask parents to pay developmental fees or library fees or money for various educational trusts."

Suresh Kumar also said that if the parents had already paid full fees to the schools, the schools can adjust the amount for the coming academic year 2021-22 and charge only 70 per cent for 2019-2020. "If the schools want to charge a fee even lesser than 70 per cent, they are free to do so. Besides this, many parents have lost their jobs due to the pandemic and some of them have been getting half of their salaries. Hence, the school management committees must allow them to pay fees in installments. We have also realised that many schools have not been able to pay salaries to their teachers and have been facing financial losses since last year. In case of force or trouble from schools, then a separate committee has been formed by the government to look into these issues and take actions against such schools."

Meanwhile, he announced the tentative time-table for PUC 2 students. The final exams will begin from May 24 and end on June 10. "We have designed his time-table in a way that it is suitable for teachers to complete the syllabus for their students. Since the classes began on January 1, this year, the exams are in the month of May. We have also looked at the NEET, JEE and other competitive exam dates in mind and fixed dates for the exam. People can also raise objections by submitting their letters to the Department of Pre University Education. The results of the final exams will be declared in the end of June and the next academic year will begin from July 2021."
