Even though Delhi University has not decided on opening campuses for everyone, the students on January 28 conducted classes on the street as part of a protest about digital divide during the pandemic and demanded that the university resume classes.
All India Students' Association organised the protest called 'University on Streets' as a protest against the digital divide due to online education. Not just students but a few teachers joined in as well. Dr Laxman Yadav and Dr Jitendra Meena joined the protest and even spoke on the issue. "This system (of online education) has been devastating for the Dalits, Adivasis, Labourers and Women of the country," said Dr Yadav.
"The BJP government is scared of free thought and protest of students and it feels comfortable in keeping our campus closed," said Dr Meena.
