Police take the couple into custody

Madanapalli Police shifted the mother and father involved in double murder of their own daughters for medical examinations to the government general hospital in the town on Tuesday morning. According to reports, police registered a case under section 302 IPC on charges of brutally murdering both their daughters. Police named V Purushotham Naidu as the first accused and his wife Padmaja as the second accused in the case.

Police had faced a tough job while shifting Padmaja, mother of the victims for a medical examination. She refused to undergo the mandatory COVID tests. 'Who are you to tell me. Coronavirus couldn't harm me as it broke out from Lord Shiva's hair and not from Wuhan in China. I'm Shiva. Coronavirus will end in the month of March without using the vaccine. No need of using vaccine. Shiva is there in Madanapalli town,' a conversation of Pamaja while undergoing the test at the government hospital stated.

Police requested her to undergo the test as part of the guidelines. However, she co-operated while taking samples for the COVID test in the hospital after a few minutes. The mother of the victims continued to remain in a state of trance and did not appear sensible while being arrested as she was seen not walking but singing and dancing to the police jeep. Meanwhile, the father of the victims, Dr V Purushotham Naidu has co-operated with the police, unlike his wife. Madanapalli DSP A Ravi Manohara Chary said the police had great difficulty in completing the medical examination formalities as Padmaja acted strangely.

A case has been booked against the duo under section 302 IPC. Other sections will also be framed against them as the investigation into the case progresses, added the DSP A Ravi Manohara Chary. It may be recalled that, on Sunday, the educated couple Purushotham Naidu and Padmaja performed pujas over superstitious belief. The couple killed Sai Divya with a trident and then beat up elder daughter Alekhya with a dumbbell after putting a copper cup in her mouth. Further, Purushotham Naidu confessed what they had done to a colleague in the college.
