Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal to be conferred with D'Litt at Avinashilingam University convocation
The Union Minister will be conferred D'Litt-Honoris Causa degree for his contribution in the field of Literature and Education, the university said

Union Minister for Education Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' will be conferred with an honorary doctorate (D'Litt-Honoris Causa) at the 32nd convocation of Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women in Coimbatore, which will be held virtually on Friday.
The Union Minister will be conferred D'Litt-Honoris Causa degree for his contribution in the field of Literature and Education, the university said in a release. The convocation will be held at 2.30 pm on Friday and the Union minister will be delivering the convocation address through video conferencing, university officials said. Chancellor of the university SP Thyagarajan will also address the gathering in the presence of TSK Meenakshisundaram, managing trustee of Sri Avinashilingam Education Trust Institutions. Vice-Chancellor of the university Premavathy Vijayan will present a report of the activities for the academic year 2020-2021.

A total of 2,506 students including 1,893 UG, 534 PG, 40 MPhil and 39 PhD candidates will be receiving their degrees. In view of Covid-19 guidelines, only PhDs and Gold Medal Awardees will be receiving their degrees and medals on the dais from the chancellor. All the others will receive their degrees on virtual mode.
