Learning Spiral, one of India's leading online examination solution provider, in a recent survey found that 73 per cent of students cheat during online examinations. However, it also stated that with advanced technological methods like remote proctoring, secure browsing, remote candidate authentication, data encryption during transit and more, the cheating rate can be brought down to a mere 13 per cent.
The survey showed that 36 per cent undergraduate and 24 per cent of graduate students are the ones who paraphrase from the internet without footnoting. While 38 per cent undergraduate and 25 per cent of graduate students are the ones who paraphrase from books without footnoting. It also found that 7 per cent of undergraduate and four per cent of graduate students are the ones who copy nearly word to word without citation.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all the sectors in an unexpected way. Amongst all, one of the most affected sectors was the education sector.
