Residential schools under Minority Welfare Department in Koppal district have taken initiative of deputing teachers to upload all relevant information of students to ensure their scholarship for 2020-21 academic year. Hitherto, students were supposed to upload online information on their own through internet or browsing centres outside the schools, which caused inconvenience to students owing to fleecing of money on one hand and frequent technical glitches on the other, said official sources.
In fact, some students of residential schools especially in backward areas of the district were deprived of scholarship due to these problems for want of timely online submission of applications or mistakes in information in 2019-20, sources noted. In this backdrop, the department has facilitated requisite facility in respective schools, such as Moorarji Desai Residential schools/colleges pre and post-metric hostels of the department. Online applications of students will be uploaded free of cost. Respective heads of these schools, colleges and hostels have been instructed to depute teachers and get all relevant of information/documents from parents of students to upload the same and ensure scholarship to students.
This move will also help students in ease burden in view of Covid-19 pandemic. The department district officer Javed Karangi told TNIE that as teachers will verify documents of students prior to online submission, all students are expected to get scholarship this time around unlike the previous academic years when some students had to miss scholarship due to mistakes, he noted adding that the district aims at ensuring scholarship to all eligible students this academic year.
