With less than a week left for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India to conduct the Chartered Accountancy examination for 2020, students from across the country are tweeting continuously, seeking justice and asking the institute to postpone the examinations, which are due to begin from November 21. Hashtags #ICAI_Denies_Equality and #ICAI_Denies_Safety are currently trending on Twitter.

Even though the number of COVID cases in the country have reportedly come down, the students say that appearing for examinations for a few days straight will put them in a risky situation. At the same time, many claim that they are yet to allotted examination centres and that a lot of these centres are in containment zones. The students have been raising their voices against this since the beginning of October. While the ICAI President Atul Gupta had said that the exams will be held from November 2, it was then postponed.

"I have eight exams held on alternate days. It is quite risky to go to an exam centre that often. I am scared that I will get infected and will infect my mother," TD Meghraj, an aspirant previously told EdexLive. This year, 4,71,619 students will appear for the exams, across 1,085 exam centres.

Earlier this month, while dismissing a plea that sought to adopt SOPs during the exams, the Supreme Court said that the students appearing for CA exams cannot ask for any concessions as they were also writing other exams, pandemic or otherwise.
