The Pondicherry University Students' Council has asked the varsity administration to fast track the process of providing documents to final year students as they would otherwise be in a fix while seeking admission to other institutes. The PUSC said recently that they have received numerous complaints from students about the delay in getting their documents such as transfer, character certificates and mark lists among others.

"This is to bring to your attention that we have received complaints about departments delaying the process of providing necessary documents to the final year students which they require to take admission. This is causing a great amount of stress to the students. Since many institutions have started the admission process, the students need to submit their Transfer Certificate, Character Certificate, Mark List among other documents. Therefore, kindly take notice of this on an urgent basis, and instruct the department heads to speed up the process of providing students with required documents," the PU Students' Council wrote in a statement.

P Parichay Yadav, PUSC president said, "For admission, you need certain documents, but the university hasn't released any circular directing the departments to give out these certificates. We received numerous complaints from students. The students' council had to get involved as the university hasn't actively responded to the students' queries or grievances regarding the issue. We have requested the administration to pace up the process."

"Mostly universities across the country have begun their admissions, for which we need our documents. I enquired about my certificates and the PU administration told me that I need to be physically present to collect it, pay extra for the migration certificate or transfer certificate. But they were not sure when they are planning to provide us with the documents. I have applied for Jharkhand Central University, the interview is likely to happen by the end of this month. After the interview is done and I am selected, I would have to submit these documents in a span of 15 days. It would become an issue, it is not that much of a hassle as our results are already out, they can at least give us a provisional certificate for now," Shyam Prakash, who was pursuing Performing Arts at PU told us.

Another PU student Pooja Bista tweeted to the varsity vice-chancellor requesting him to take proper action and enable the smooth release of documents. In her tweet, she mentions that she has lost her admission at a Chandigarh institute for not having the character and transfer certificate. "Recent postgrads like me are not getting considered for admission or employment due to unavailability of documents. PU academic branch directed me to my department and vice-versa," she wrote in her tweet on November 7.

We tried to contact the varsity for a comment but there was no response. This copy will be updated if/when we receive a response.
