Since the Indian Institue of Mass Communication released its entrance examination result and rank list on November 2, the students who wrote the exam are flooding Twitter with #IIMCExamScam. A few of them whom we spoke to allege that the examination was glitchy, malpractices were rampant and deserving candidates did not make it to the merit list.

A student who wrote the exam, who did not wish to be named, also said that her identity proof wasn't checked even once at her examination centre. "I had applied for two different courses in IIMC. While my ID was checked during one entrance exam, I was let in without any question during the second one. There are chances that people could have forged identity and written the exam," she says. Owing to technical errors, the institute had revised its results twice in the past.

"While names were repeated in the initial merit list, the rectified merit list, as well as the consolidated marks list released on October 31, had loopholes too. Some of the students whose result was withheld had been included in the merit list," says another applicant. The students also say that the criterion for excluding certain names in the merit list, that was published on November 2 was also dubious. At the same time, students have also shared screenshots of a WhatsApp chat, with EdexLive, that indicates malpractice during the entrance examination.

Even though the students have written to the IIMC asking them to resolve these issues, they are yet to receive a response for the same. Messages to the ADG Sathish Nambudiripad regarding this did not yield a response. This copy will be updated once he responds.
