Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema on Thursday strongly criticised withholding the results of colleges affiliated to Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU), Bathinda, saying it had ruined the future of more than 2,000 students.

He said that the decision, which came at a time when the students and their families were fighting the corona-viruses, has added to their woes. Cheema, in a statement said about 1,012 colleges in the state had not cleared their examination dues to the university, prompting the University to withhold the results of all the colleges. If the colleges had failed to pay the fee to university, what was the fault of the students at large? he asked.

He said that under the Post Matriculation Scholarship (PMS) scheme, the state government owed a whopping amount of about Rs 1,850 crore to these colleges. Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh should immediately intervene in this matter and resolve it, he stated.
