The Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that Cornavirus has made many powerful countries helpless and challenges are increasing despite all efforts. He requested Indians to maintain the lockdown for 21 more days to keep a check on the spread of the Coronavirus. He also said the government has allocated Rs 15,000 crore for providing provisions and equipment to battle Corona.

"Be whatever may. We need to practice social distancing — from the PM to the common villager, everyone needs to stay indoors. What we do now will decide how we live later," he added. "This is the time to show restraint. I plead you to stay home and pray for those who are taking a risk to serve in these trouble times. If we will be negligent towards observing social distance India will have to pay heavy price," he added.

Experts are saying that 'social distancing' is the only way to tackle coronavirus, said the PM. "Social distancing not only for infected but for every citizen including the prime minister. From 12pm tonight there will be complete lockdown in the entire country," he added. "This lockdown is in a way curfew and would be more stringent than Janta curfew. We may have to pay financial cost for this lockdown but it is important for safety of people. One step outside can make way for coronavirus into your house. With folded hands, I appeal to people not to go out of their homes. If we won't follow the nationwide lockdown for 21 days, we will be pushed back by 21 years," he added.
