Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' on Friday expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court for accepting MHRD's proposal to not hold Class XII exams from July 1 to 15. "I am thankful to the Supreme Court, PM@narendramodi, and HM@AmitShah for accepting our proposal of not holding the #CBSE examinations of class XII from 1st July to 15th July," he tweeted.

Earlier, the apex court, which was hearing a petition filed by a group of parents seeking cancellation of the remaining exams for Class 12 students following Coronavirus pandemic, approved the Central Board for Secondary Education's (CBSE) assessment scheme to give marks to students for the cancelled Class 12 board exams. The Board will rate students' performance for pending subjects on the basis of exams that have already been conducted and internal assessment.

The Class XII exam results will be declared by July 15, the CBSE said. A similar relief was sought by the ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) board too. Pending exams of Class 10 and Class 12 will not be held for remaining papers and students can appear for the exam at a later date when the situation is conducive.
