Padma Vibhushan awardee and former ISRO Chairman Dr Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan on Tuesday emphasised on research along with quality education as a holistic and liberal approach towards students development.

His remark came while he was speaking at the national webinar on Changing Paradigms in Higher Education, Possibilities and Challenges, organised by the MIT ADT University.

Dr Kasturirangan, who is the Chairperson of the National Education Policy 2019 Drafting Committee, stated that the Union Government is pursuing a student-centric education policy.

"More than 900 universities in the country should emphasise research along with quality education.

For this, the infrastructure should be created.

By 2030, multidisciplinary institutions of higher education will be established in every district," he told.

"We need to upgrade schools, bring in more teachers.

We need to make the complexes through the existing system by improving it, with minimal norms," he spoke in the same breath.

The program was graced by MIT ADT varsity Founder and President Professor Viswanath Karad and Executive President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Mangesh Karad.
