Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) has welcomed the launching of online portal for job vacancies and has also welcomed the initiatives taken by the Labour Department. A statement from CII Goa said CII had been working very closely with the state government to connect Goan job seekers with the industry and other establishments to promote employment in Goa.

"With the outbreak of COVID 19 and the lockdown imposed, labour issue has aggravated the problem for the industries. While the lockdown created panic and fear amongst the migrant workers, leading to an exodus of labour force to their hometowns, many workmen stranded out of Goa have not been able to join work in Goa, effect of which can be felt by the Industries in Goa, facing difficulty in getting workforce," it said.

CII in association with Department of Labour and Employment, Government of Goa would be setting up and managing the Model Career Centre (MCC) in Panaji, the statement said, adding the Model Career Centre would be mentored by the Industry Task Force, which would help in MCC facilitating and on-boarding the industry for providing employment opportunities to the job seekers or youth of Goa.

The MCC would do the psychometric assessment, career counselling and guidance, pre-employment preparation and job placements (Apprenticeships & jobs). CII would also facilitate job placements inside and outside the state through its network of MCCs and state offices and the digital platform. "CII welcomes the initiative and appeals to Goan Industries to support the government in creating employment and providing employment to goans across the state.

The Job seeker and employment providers should take utmost advantage of the opportunity of the Online portal.

Job seekers looking for employment should enroll themselves on the portal at the earliest with all their particulars giving details, this will enable Industry to expedite the process of shortlisting and employment, the statement added.
