NIT, Hamirpur director has powers withdrawn by management after complaints of misuse

There are indications that a new Director will be appointed soon as the HRD is unhappy with the working style of the present Director of the Institution

Powers of Director of NIT, Hamirpur, Prof Vinod Yadava have been withdrawn by the management of the institution following complaints of misuse of powers by the Director. Chairman of the BOG, Prof Chander Shekhar has confirmed the report of withdrawing the powers of Prof Yadava on Tuesday.

He said that the financial and administration powers of the Director have been withdrawn. There are indications that a new Director will be appointed soon as the HRD is unhappy with the working style of the present Director of the Institution. However, in the meantime, a senior officer of the union HRD ministry is visiting the Hamirpur for on the spot inquiry into the allegations against the Director.

This issue had been highlighted by local MLA, Rajinder Rana of the Congress party time and again and he had blamed the BJP for helping the Director. However, Union Minister of state for finance and corporate affairs, Anurag Thakur recently met the Union HRD Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal and sought his intervention into the issue.

Reports reaching here say that on the orders of the HRD minister, the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the NIT, Hamirpur, Prof Chander Shekhar had withdrawn the financial and administration powers of the Director. Meanwhile, there is a mass jubilation in the NIT over the latest orders of the HRD divesting the powers of the Director. Congress MLA Rajinder Rana, who was the flag bearer of a campaign against the Director, has demanded immediate removal of the Director and holding of high-level inquiries against him for the blatant misuse of powers during his tenure.
