JNU again extends deadline to register for the next semester till January 17
Earlier, JNU said the students can register up to January 15 without any fine. Initially, the last date of registration for the winter semester was January 5, 2020

Amid registration boycott by a section of students, the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) again extended the deadline to register for the next semester till January 17.
"The registration deadline for ongoing winter session has been extended up to January 17 without late fees.
However, registration will continue till February 9 by paying late fees up to Rs 500," a senior varsity official said.
"After that deadline, the VC may consider written requests for registration and grant the permission for late registration, if deemed fit, with imposition of appropriate amount of fine at his discretion," the official added.
JNU on January 12 had extended the date for the winter semester registration till 15 January. This was the second time that the registration date had been extended in a week. Earlier, it had been extended from 5 to 12 January. The administration had said that they took the decision to extend the date as the information and communication service (CIS) systems of the university had been severely damaged by students as part of their months-long agitation against a hostel fee hike.
