Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research's Centre for Sports Science in Chennai will be launching a high-performance centre on Saturday, December 5 in collaboration with the MS Dhoni Cricket Academy to offer world-class cricket coaching and training facilities to young players.

The Centre for Sports Science at SRIHER is also recognised by the government of India and the state governments of Tamilnadu and Kerala for its modern and comprehensive facilities. The new high-performance centre is an appropriate addition to the CSS as it is recognised by both International Cricket Council and Board of Control for Cricket in India and has the first ICC accredited biomechanics lab in Asia for suspect bowling action testing.

This centre aims to develop a new generation of players, fully equipped technically, physically, and mentally to meet the demands of all formats of the game, through what they are calling, the Dhoni Way Model. This model of teaching and learning will equip players and coaches with the skills they need to succeed in cricket and in their lives. "An integrated, unique and ground-breaking programme will be built around the core values with which MS Dhoni lives and plays by including integrity, teamwork, adaptability, leadership, skills, professionalism and more," an official statement from SRIHER stated.

Some of the features that the programme will entail for students and aspiring players to learn include:
- Quality over quantity so players practice their matchday rituals and routines as part of their regular training
- Effective techniques that will teach players to learn how to achieve outcomes in competitive situations and adverse conditions

The centre will now function online or in a classroom setup depending on the Coronavirus guidelines in the state and also adhere to the safety protocols by the Central Government. The launch on Saturday evening will be addressed by Daryll Cullinan, Director of Coaching, MS Dhoni- CSS High Performance Centre and Dr S Arumugam, Director, CSS.
