Students registration has increased in government arts college despite COVID-19 pandemic

As Tamil Nadu government had said that students can register for admission in Government Arts Colleges online, the number of students has increased to college admission this year.

Coimbatore Government Arts College Principal G Chitra said, "Last year, as many as 7,211 students had applied for admission last year. This year, 18,481 students have registered name in our college website from August 1 to 10. Nearly, 11,270 students have been increased this year, due to online registration process," she said and added, "Now, the rank list for students preparation work has started to students based on quota and class XII mark and as soon as rank list ready, concerned head of the department will inform about joining course details to them by phone call. From August 28 counselling for special and general category will begin and while special category counselling, students must come to college with the necessary documentation to verify to provide seat. Counselling will be held to 1,409 seats in 24 undergraduate courses in Coimbatore government arts college."

One of the members in Coimbatore college admission committee said," More than 3 lakh students registered their name in 109 government colleges in the state. The number of students have increased in all colleges compared to last year. Especially, one student has registered multiple time in the various course and many colleges. This is the main reason to increase registration in government colleges. The proper details come to know, after admission."
