Despise a steady rise in the number of COVID cases, the universities and other agencies across the country are gearing up to conduct examinations for students, creating a hue and cry among the students. While the UGC has asked the universities to wrap up their final year examinations by September 30, the NTA was allowed to go ahead and conduct JEE and NEET in September. In that scenario, the All India Students' Association has called for observing a 'National Protest Day' on August 21.

The student political organisation's representatives say that students across the country will protest the decision to conduct examinations amid pandemic by tweeting with #ProtestAgainstExamsInCovid. They will also record video messages and hold placards, ensuring physical distancing.

AISA had previously submitted a letter petition to the Supreme Court seeking a cancellation of the CBSE Compartment examination, the dates of which are yet to be released. The court will hear the plea on Thursday. On August 17, it had dismissed a plea that sought a postponement of JEE and NEET, much to students' angst.
