Let's admit that the transition of education from offline to online was not a walk in the park for most of the teachers. Often, they end up using multiple apps, one for video conferencing, one for attendance, another to share the meeting links and resources and one for assignment submission. We also know that there will always be teachers and students who struggle with tech.

This was why educator Mubeen Masudi along with a group of three engineers developed Wise App, a Zoom-integrated live classroom application, where teachers can conduct classes, share resources, hold discussions and get attendance on a single platform. The free-to-use application which was launched last week automatically sends a notification to students as soon as the teacher logs in. "A lot of teachers have told me how they find it difficult to share the meeting links with students every time. This takes care of that problem. A teacher can create a class, log in and can enroll students based on verification. Also, students are notified every time the teacher logs in," says Mubeen.

Mubeen notes how a lot of things that are taken for granted are missing online. "It is difficult to share assignments and everything happens in a haphazard, chaotic and non-professional manner. Teachers end up teaching fewer students online. The app has a discussion tab, assessment tab and a resources tab where teachers can share links," he says. "It also automates attendance. The teachers do not have to count the number of participants, but instead, they're sent a list of students who attended their classes," he adds.

Transition to online education was a hassle, especially for teachers and students in Kashmir, owing to the unavailability of the 4G network in the valley. Mubeen, who hails from Kashmir himself tells us that the app can work on 2G too. "Most teacher sin Kashmir use Zoom, considering it works on 2G. Since this is a zoom-integrated ap, it works on 2G too. This may, however, take more time," he says.
