Amid the rising number of COVID cases, the Uttar Pradesh BEd JEE was held on August 9 in various centres across the state. Even though strict safety protocols had to be followed, there were reports about how the examinees flouted the COVID norms. In fact, Agra reported 38 new cases in 24 hours, after the city saw 20,000 new visitors in a day.

Soon after the reports were out, the hashtag #NTAPostponeNEET_JEE started trending on Twitter. Students, parents, activists and concerned netizens have started using the hashtag to urge the Minister of Education Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' and the National Testing Agency to postpone NEET and JEE, to avoid a further surge in COVID cases. Twitterati has also used examples of the Karnataka Common Entrance Test and the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical entrance examination, where people had flouted social distancing norms, causing a spike in the number of COVID cases.
