Puducherry unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday urged the government to bear the tuition fee expenses of all the students of government, private schools and colleges in the Union Territory as an 'extra-ordinary' situation is prevailing due to COVID-19.

BJP state president V Saminathan MLA in a statement said that the government should write off the electricity and water tariff for the next three months and should ensure that those living in rented houses were not pressed for house rent by the landlords.

He said several people including unorganized sector labourers are suffering a lot due to lockdown to check Coronavirus.

Chief Minister V Narayanasamy and his cabinet colleagues should stop the 'decorative' announcements to the media daily and should take steps to find a solution to the health and economic problems of the people, Saminathan said.
