Haryana Police bags Excellence Award for women's grievance app Durga Shakti

After a very short span of 18 days, Haryana Police has once again bagged IT Excellence Award for its 'Durga Shakti App' for being adjudged one of the best e-initiative ensuring safety and security of women.

While stating this here on Thursday, a spokesman of the Haryana Police said that Additional Director General of Police, CID, Anil Kumar Rao had received this prestigious honour on behalf of Haryana Police during the InfoComm event held at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai.

It may be recalled that on August 30, Haryana Police was conferred SKOCH Governance Award for its 'Durga Shakti App' during the SKOCH Summit-2019 held at New Delhi. Earlier, the State Police honoured with FICCI Smart Policing Award for its initiative on training, capacity building and community policing.

Congratulating the officers, Director General of Police (DGP), Mr Manoj Yadava said that it is a matter of great pride that State Police initiatives has again recognized at the national level. He also congratulated the entire team of Durga Shakti App.

The app, which was launched by Chief Minister Manohar Lal on July 12, 2018, along with Durga Shakti Rapid Action Force, has emerged out as one of most effective tool to seek police help in times of distress or for redressal of any other grievances of women. It is evident from the fact that till August 31, the app has been downloaded by more than 1,57,000 women across the state.

On the basis of 791 distress messages/calls received on app, 53 FIRs have been lodged, 31 preventive actions have been taken and 707 matters have been resolved amicably after being reported on this app. The app is available on both Google and Apple play store and can be downloaded for free.
