JEE Main 2020: Here's all you need to know about the BPlan exam pattern, syllabus

Starting this year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced a separate exam for aspirants of Bachelors in Planning (BPlan) in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2020, which was conducted only for BTech and BArch aspirants so far. To address queries of students, the NTA has released the exam pattern and sample question paper on its official website, jeemain.nic.in.

Candidates who have applied for B.Planning will have to attempt the Planning section instead of the drawing section. JEE Main Paper 2 will be conducted in online mode for admissions in undergraduate architecture courses. The architecture exam of JEE Main will basically comprise of three sections namely - Mathematics, General Aptitude, Drawing Skills, whereas the B.Planning paper will comprise of Mathematics, General Aptitude and Planning. 

Syllabus for Aptitude Test:

Part I

Awareness of persons, places, Buildings, Materials. Objects, Texture related to Architecture and build—environment. Visualising three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional drawings. Visualising. different sides of three-dimensional objects. Analytical Reasoning Mental Ability (Visual, Numerical and Verbal).

Part II

Three dimensional - perception: Understanding and appreciation of scale and proportion of objects, colour texture, harmony and contrast, building forms and elements. Design and drawing of geometrical or abstract shapes and patterns in pencil. Transformation of forms both 2D and 3D union, rotation subtraction, development of surfaces and volumes, elevations Generation of Plan and 3 D views of objects. Creating two dimensional and three dimensional compositions using given shapes and forms.

Sketching of scenes and activities from memory of urbanscape (monuments, public space, festivals, market, street scenes, recreational spaces, etc.), landscape (river fronts, jungles, trees, plants, etc.) and rural life.

Part III (Planning)
General Awareness regarding development issues, government programs/schemes etc., Comprehension, critical thinking and analytical skills, graphs, charts and map reading skills, simple statistics, CBSE class X Social Sciences topics.
