Gun Violence: Chennai polytechnic student gets shot in the head by friend after quarrel

A 19-year-old student from a polytechnic college in Vengadamangalam in Kancheepuram district was shot in the head by his friend following a quarrel. The victim, Mukesh, is a second-year student from a private college in Vandalur on the outskirts of Chennai. He is currently in hospital and is in a critical state.

According to reports, the two broke into a fight over watching a video on Mukesh's phone. Vijay, the accused suddenly pulled out his gun and shot Mukesh in the head. The police said that the bullet was crude, so it did not penetrate his skull. Mukesh's parents and neighbours rushed inside to help Mukesh as Vijay and his brother, Udaya rushed outside. 

He is currently admitted at Tagore Medical College and Hospital in Rathinamangalam. The police have launched an investigation to locate Vijay and his brother. It is unclear how the duo came in possession of the weapon.
