Karnataka State Open Univ gives second chance to failed students admitted between 2011-13 to reappear for exam

In a major relief to students of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), the varsity has decided to provide an opportunity to failed students admitted during 2011-12 and 2012-13, to appear for the examination again.

Vice Chancellor of KSOU Prof D Shivalinagaiah said that the failed students of BA and B Com course can appear for the examination during the academic year.

He said that the KSOU could not hold the supplementary examination as the UGC denied recognition. However, the varsity wanted to give them one more chance as the UGC has again given recognition for five years and to offer courses in 55 subjects. The students admitted in 2011-12 will get one chance whereas the students admitted during the 2012-13 academic year will get two attempts.

When asked whether he will seek extension, Shivalinagiah said that he is satisfied with his performance as a vice chancellor and will not seek an extension.

Shivaliangaih said that the students in three-year-courses who got three more years to clear the examination will now get only two years to pass the degree course under N+2 policy.

He said that the KSOU that has invited applications for admissions to 31 courses during July- August and has recorded good response with more than 31 students visiting their websitewww.ksoumysore.kar.gov.in.

Shivaliangaiah informed that they have sent admission notification through WhatsApp to 2 lakh PU and final BA students of Mysore University. "We will also send it to cell numbers of final degree students across the state that would help them get admissions in KSOU," he added.

He said that Mysore University will be starting distance education. "It will not affect our prospects as they can offer distance education in Mysore Jurisdiction only, whereas KSOU can offer it across the state," he said.

He said that there is a good response from candidates aspiring from pursuing a doctoral degree at KSOU.
