ICET 2019 results: Guntur boy emerges as topper, chooses to pursue MBA from AU

For the second consecutive year, Guntur district achieved top rank in Andhra Pradesh State Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET)-2019 conducted by Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. Karumuri Naga Sumanth from Guntur secured the first rank in ICET by scoring 152.0523 marks, followed by K Kavya Sri from Tuni, East Godavari secured the second rank by scoring 149.8963 marks and NV Siva Sai Pavan from Vijayawada secured third by scoring 149.0467 marks.

Announcing the results on Wednesday, Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) chairman Prof S Vijaya Raju said that as many as 43,731 candidates have cleared the APICET-2019, against to the total of 48,445 candidates appeared for the test. However, the number of seats is more than the number of qualified candidates. This year, about 52,736 candidates applied to ICET. Of them 26,002 (53.67 per cent) are Male, 22,443 (46.33 per cent) are Females. The total pass percentage is 90.27 which was 2.33 percent less than the previous year, he said.

Disclosing the other details, Vijaya Raju informed that the pass percentage of female candidates is 90.50, while the pass percentage of male candidates is 90.07. The number of seats available in business schools across the State is 43,809 while there are 8,665 seats in MCA colleges. Over 52,216 candidates applied for the exam last year and nearly 48,635 appeared. This year, saw a sharp decline in the number of applications and candidates who qualified the test, he said adding that candidates can download ranks at http://sche.ap.gov.in/ICET/ from May 15 onwards.Karumuri Naga Sumanth of Guntur who topped the ICET did his B.Tech at Chalapathi Institute of Technology, Mothadaka and chose to do MBA at Andhra University (AU), Visakhapatnam. Speaking to TNIE, Sumanth credited his success to the family members and faculty. ''Initially, I will pursue MBA at AU and my aim is to crack civil services'', he added. M Venkata Nagendra of Visakhapatnam who secured 6th rank completed his B.Tech at AU in 2018 and worked as IT professional at Bangalore. Nagendra said that he would pursue MBA at AU itself.
