NEET Results 2019: No topper from Tamil Nadu in top 50, 7.97 lakh students qualify for medical admission

The National Testing Agency declared the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test at around 1 pm on Wednesday. Nalin Khandelwal from Rajasthan has secured the top rank in the test by scoring 701 out of 720 marks. The second rankers were Bhavik Bansal from Delhi and Akshat Kaushil from UP who only scored one mark less than Khandelwal. Overall, 56.57 percentage of candidates have passed nationwide. 

In 2018, the Tamil Nadu student who got the highest rank was K Keerthana (12th rank) and in 2017, there was not even a single student in the top 25. This year, no TN student found a place even the top 50 ranks in the NEET exam. The topper in Tamil Nadu is Chennai-based Sruthi K who managed to get the 57th rank, she managed to get 685 out of 720. 

The Tamil Nadu topper from the different-abled category was Karvanna Prabhu KK and he managed to get the fifth rank. 

Out of the 123078 who appeared in Tamil Nadu, only about 59,785 students qualified. However, the percentage of students who qualified this year is more than last year. Last year, the percentage of people who qualified was 39.56 and this year it was 48.57 which is 9.01 percentage increase. However, one of the surprising aspects of the Tamil Nadu NEET exam this year was that 15,919 students have absented themselves from the exam. The highest number in comparison to all other states.

Rajasthan had the largest pass percentage in the country with 74.30 percentage of the candidate passed. Delhi came in second with 73.73 percentage of passed candidates. 

The cut off for each category is — General Category - 134, OBC and SC,ST - 107. The results were initially supposed to be declared by 4 pm but were declared in the afternoon itself.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released NEET result 2019. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2019 result is available on NTA's official website ntaneet.nic.in. NTA NEET 2019 result will also be available on mcc.nic.in. Nearly 15 lakh candidates who were arduously waiting for the NEET result can check the same online now. 


The National Testing Agency conducted NEET 2019 throughout the country on May 5, 2019, and on May 20, 2019, for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in India in Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament e.g. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry.


The exam was held in Hindi, English, Urdu, Gujarati, Marathi, Oriya, Bengali, Assamese, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada languages. Last year Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had conducted the NEET and the result was declared on June 4.
