At a time when Students' Federation of India (SFI) is drawing flak from all quarters for its involvement in the stabbing incident at University College in Thiruvananthapuram, its workers clashed with AISF workers at Government Arts And Science College, Vypin. The skirmish happened during the college union election campaign held at the premises on Wednesday.
AISF unit secretary Swalih Afridi and president Vishnu T S were admitted to the nearby hospital following the attack."The attack was perpetrated by SFI union chairman and the college art club secretary. They have been attacking since last three years following the set up of our unit in the campus. Our decision to contest in the election what provoked them" said Nimish Raju, AISF state council member.
On the other hand, SFI district leadership has refuted the charges. "AISF is trying to remain in the mainstream by initiating these conspiracies. The clash was between the AISF workers and third-year students of the college. AISF bring in their workers from outside and ruthlessly attacked our unit secretary," said Amal C S, district secretary, SFI.
