Madurai Kamaraj University students' certificates from 1990 onwards to be uploaded online

As a part of a digitisation drive, for the first time in Madurai Kamaraj University's history and as per the new Vice-Chancellor M Krishnan's instructions, the examination department is rushing to upload two lakh students' certificates in National Academic Depository (NAD) within January 21.

National Academic Depository(NAD) is an online documentation centre which includes certificates, diplomas, degrees, mark sheets and other documents related to the education. Also, it is helpful for any institution or to check the authenticity of the documents produced a student. University Grants Commission (UGC), as an authorised body to regulate educational institutions including central universities, state universities, deemed universities and school boards.

As per the Ministry of Human Resource Development(MHRD) guidelines, MKU started documenting students' certificates during January 2018. But, till now only the present academic students' certificates have been uploaded. After the new Vice-Chancellor assumed office, he ordered the examination department to carry this work in full swing. O Ravi, Controller of Examinations of MKU said that NAD is an initiative to provide an online storehouse of all academic awards and it is an online storehouse of all academic awards including certificates, diplomas, degrees, mark-sheets by varsities. They will store 2 lakh certificates in the first phase and remaining will be carried out shortly, he added. He further said that during the month of September 2018 at the principal meeting he informed all the college management and each college would have NDA representative to do this work for the varsity.

MKU Vice-Chancellor M Krishnan said that MHRD asked the varsities to upload the documents from 1990 and it will be helpful for the students as well as the employer even from the overseas to check the authenticity of the certificates. The employer can themselves download the student's certificates. They do not need to get a reference from the concerned varsity, it consumes time also, he added.

He further said that the concerned department uploaded only 4000 certificates and he asked them to complete it at least 15 per cent of the work within 15 days and remaining will be completed very soon, he added. Ends.
