"Hinduism and Hindutva aren't the same. Being religious and being stupid are two different things. People here may be religious, but not stupid enough to vote for BJP." Author, commentator and Hindutva idealogue Shefali Vaidya was shocked to see the above comment on one of her tweets two days back. The tweet wasn't from any other anti-BJP account but from the official handle of IIT Bombay's Shailesh J Mehta School of Management.

An hour of confusion and criticism later, the account put up a tweet saying, "With regards to the recent post, our account was compromised. We apologise for the same. We would like to reiterate that the School neither endorses nor takes a political stand or viewpoint."

Following the tweet, Vaidya had asked her followers to send an email to Devang Khakhar, the Director of the school, complaining about the same. She'd tweeted saying that she'd also written an email to him.

A few hours later, the official handle of IIT Bombay also issued a statement saying that the institute doesn't have any political stand and distances itself from such statements. It also said that the @SJMSoM account was managed by a group of students and not by the institute.
