A Class X boy stabbed three of his seniors, Class XII students, from a government school in Kandamanur near Aundipatti, Theni, because they had complained to the teachers after he was caught smoking. The trio was rushed to Theni Medical College hospital where doctors confirmed that even though two boys had sustained grievous injuries and are being treated at intensive care unit they are out of danger while the third boy was treated for a few mild injuries.

According to police, there was a verbal altercation between them after the seniors had asked him not to smoke and complained to the teachers. But it did not stop there. On Tuesday evening, the Class X boy brought two of his friends and waited outside the school premises. When the three boys came out of school, they were beaten and even stabbed with knives.

Based on the complaint from one of the injured students, Kandamanur police has registered an FIR and has launched a search for the absconding minor accused. Following the incident, on Wednesday ex-students and parents lay-seize the Kandamanur government higher secondary school and sought proper protection to the students.
