A young married woman has accused her former Maths teacher of making repeated obscene video calls to her. The accused, Channegowda, 46, a resident of Kilara village in Mandya, is absconding. He was teaching mathematics in a government high school.

It all began, when the complainant, a resident of Bengaluru, started getting messages and calls from Channegowda in a social media platform. In the past week, he started making video calls to her allegedly when he was nude. She disconnected his calls, but he began harassing her repeatedly, during the day and night. He called her more than 15 times, however, the video calls were not recorded.

Channegowda was earlier working in Tumakuru, where the woman was his student in Class 10. He later got a transfer to Mandya. He had allegedly sent requests to other students too, but they did not accept them. Based on a complaint, a police officer reached Channegowda's house in Mandya to nab him, but he ran out of the house. Efforts are on to nab him and we have gathered video call details and his phone call records as part of the investigation, a police officer said.
