In a case of high handedness by a Hyderabad-based private school, ten teachers were shown the door without prior notice of which four have been reinstated after other teachers and parents staged protest on Tuesday.

Krishnaveni Talent School at Ziaguda sacked a teacher a month ago and another three 20 days ago, while others left the institution due to the ill-treatment faced at the hands of the incumbent principal. The protesting parents claimed that the move was taken by the school principal as a cost-cutting measure.

"In two months ten teachers left the school. While some were sacked, others resigned due to constant ill-treatment. The principal felt that our salaries were high but this was because we are senior-level teachers and our pay here is decided by the strength of the school," said one of the sacked high school teacher.

"The idea was to lay off teachers who earned between Rs 12,000-15000 and make high school teachers take classes for class 10 students. But with only one experienced high school teachers, the school management found it hard to manage their classes. The concerned students notified their parents who staged a protest. Later the school teachers also joined hands with the protesters, following which four were reinstated," said Sheik Shabbir Ali of Telangana Private Teachers Forum.
