Anubhav Das, a student of BITS Pilani, will receive a paid and highly valuable internship, working under the mentorship of Priyanshu Singh, Country Manager & MD, The Adecco Group India and alongside other members of the executive team. Working in this internship will provide him the opportunity to learn on the job by joining operations reviews, meetings with clients, discussions with management executives and gaining a bird’s eye view of understanding the intricacies of managing a complex multinational organization.

"Would-be employers often cite a lack of required skills and the shortcomings of traditional education as reasons for the inability to hire and absorb the large number of young graduates that India produces each year. These are exactly the kind of challenges that we at The Adecco Group hope to tackle through initiatives like the CEO for One Month internship. This internship will provide young individuals with vital, real-world experiences that will give them an edge as they enter a very competitive labour market" said Priyanshu Singh, Country Manager & MD, The Adecco Group India.

In the CEO's shoes: Anubhav was among the top 6 finalists at the final boot camp

Anubhav was one of the top six finalists who attended the final boot camp held at The Adecco Group, India headquartered in Bengaluru between May 21 and 22. The decision was consequent to a rigorous, globally defined evaluation process of reviews and evaluation by the executive committee.

"I am thrilled that the 2-month long selection process has finally come to an end and that I have been chosen as the CEO for one month for 2018. The journey so far has been truly unique as it is different from anything I have experienced so far. This, keeping in mind that I am yet to start my official internship," said Anubhav.

Speaking about the experience, Anubhav said "I feel a sense of achievement when I realise that I made it to the end, having been chosen from among 19,500 + participants that had applied to be a part of this programme. There were 8-9 selection rounds that filtered down the applicants to the final six and each round was more challenging than the last one. When I was chosen to be a part of the six finalists who attended the boot-camp in the Bangalore office, I was not prepared for how exhausting and exhilarating this experience would be."

The winner: Anubhav Das with Priyanshu Singh, Country Manager & MD

Explaining the procedure of selection, Anubhav said that on day one, the boot-camp included "creating a project based on what we could procure from our surroundings. This involved a fun treasure hunt that turned out to be a great team building activity. Day one really got me out of my comfort zone as I worked with new people in a new city and driving a project as a team."

Adding, he said "On day 2, we had one on one time with the senior management including the MD, HR Director and CFO of Adecco India. During this nearly 1.5 hours that I had with them, I had to present my project from the previous day, make a presentation on a topic that we had been assigned earlier and complete my personal interview. This experience was an eye-opener. As prepared as I thought I was, the astute analysis of my presentation by the senior management, meant that I received feedback and comments from them that added a lot of value to my project and presentation. When I stepped out, what struck me is that there is so much to learn and that I hope to spend a lot more time here."

Adecco's CEO for One Month initiative is currently in its fifth year, and it offers an insider’s view of how to manage a multinational organization with 33,000 employees in 60 territories and revenues of more than 23 billion euros. ‘CEO for One Month’ is part of Way to Work, The Adecco Group’s programme launched in 2013 to give young people opportunities and allow them to thrive through the power of work.
