19-year-old TN boy commits suicide fearing NEET results

A 19-year-old medical aspirant committed suicide, allegedly fearing poor performance in the recently held NEET, near Nellikuppam on Monday.

According to Nellikuppam Police, B Arunprasath, son of S Babu and Vasanthi at Unnamalai Chavadi and a private school student, scored 1,150 marks in Plus Two in 2017. For the last two years, he had been preparing for getting medical admission.

The deceased boy's parents said that he had been continuously checking the NEET question paper and answer key for the last few days and feared that he might score low in the test.

On Monday, when he was alone at home, Arunprasath took a rope and hung self from the ceiling of his room. The parents came to know about the incident only in the evening when they returned from work. The Nellikuppam Police arrived at the house and carried out inquiries. The body was sent to Cuddalore GH for postmortem. A case has been registered.
